How to make a simple cricket trap

Follow these simple steps.
-
- Find an empty plastic bottle. Juice or milk container is perfect. Give it a good wash and rinse.
- Put a few pieces of bread in as bait.
- Find a small wooden stick. A long twig will do. It shouldn’t cover more than half of the opening. The function is to provide a ramp for the cricket to enter the trap.
- Set the trap in a dark spot in the garden. Along the wall or garden bed is good. Cover with a mat or some rags to keep it cool and dark.
- Wait overnight and check in the morning.
We got three crickets in one night using this method. If you don’t catch anything, move the trap to a different spot and try again. If you can hear crickets at night, they are out there and one or more will soon enter the trap as they search for food.
